My name is Rikhia Saha, and I have been teaching music internationally for the past 20 years, including the last 7 years in Atlanta. I earned the "Sangeet Visharad" and "Sangeet Prabhakar" qualifications and have also served as a music teacher at an international school in Bangalore, India.

Our Mission

Our mission at Sangeet Bitan is to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for students of all ages and backgrounds to learn and grow as musicians. We believe that music has the power to connect and inspire people. We are dedicated to fostering a community of passionate musicians exploring and celebrating the diverse cultural traditions and styles represented in our curriculum, including Hindustani classical, Rabindra Sangeet, Bhajan, Kirtana, Bollywood, and multi-language international music. Our Music Director Rikhia Saha is committed to helping each student reach their full potential and find joy and fulfillment through the practice of music. Founder and Director

Rikhia Saha

As the founder and teacher at Sangeet Bitan, I have a deep commitment to providing high-quality music education to students of all ages and abilities. I have a passion for music and have spent many years honing my skills as a performer and instructor. I am dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at Sangeet Bitan, where students can learn and grow as musicians. I believe that music has the power to inspire, heal, and bring people together, and I am excited to share my love of music with others through my teaching.

Co-Director and Social Media Manager

Aritra Saha

As the co-director and social media manager at Sangeet Bitan, I am responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administration of the school, as well as managing our social media presence. I am passionate about music and am dedicated to ensuring that our students receive high-quality instruction. As a social media manager, I work to increase the visibility of our school and engage with our community online through platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. I am constantly seeking new ways to innovate and improve our programs, and I believe that music has the power to bring people together and enrich lives.

1987-1994

Senior Dance Diploma in Bharatanatyam and Manipuri in Indian Classical Dance

Surangama Rabindrasangeet Shikshayatan in Kolkata

I have completed several forms of mudras in both Bharatanatyam and Manipuri dance styles, including Alaripu, Jotisaram, and Tilana (Krishna Abhasar, Radha Abhasar, Laasya Dance form) with high distinctions. I have also received high distinctions for my mastery of these dance forms.

1999

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Distinction in Music (Theory and Practical)

Calcutta University

I have completed classical songs, folk songs, kirtana, Baul songs, and Bhajan at Calcutta University. These styles of music are an integral part of my training and I have mastered them through my studies at the university.

1999-2001

Sangeet Visharad in Rabindra Sangeet (Vocal), Bhab Sangeet (Vocal), and Vocal Classical

Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh

The Sangeet Visharad is awarded after completing a rigorous program of study, including the study of theory, technique, and performance practices, and demonstrating expertise by passing the final examination with distinctions in both theory and practical. This degree represents a dedication to the study and performance of classical Indian music, as well as a high level of skill and knowledge in Rabindra Sangit (Vocal), Bhab Sangeet (Vocal), and Vocal Classical.

I attended Calcutta University from 1999 to 2002, where I studied Geography and graduated with Honors.

Sangeet Prabhakar in Rabindra Sangeet (Vocal), Bhab Sangeet (Vocal), and Vocal Classical

The Sangeet Prabhakar is awarded after completing a rigorous program of study, including the study of theory, technique, and performance practices, and demonstrating expertise by passing the final examination with distinctions in both theory and practical. This degree represents a dedication to the study and performance of classical Indian music, as well as a high level of skill and knowledge in Rabindra Sangit (Vocal), Bhab Sangeet (Vocal), and Vocal Classical.

Work Experience

2012-2015

Music Teacher and Head of Music Department at International School

From 2012 to 2015, I served as the Head of the Music department and a Music teacher at an international school in Bengaluru, India. I taught students from grade 1 to 12 and oversaw the music program at the school. Under my leadership, the music department and my students won several state and national level awards and participated in several regional competitions. In addition, I hosted annual recitals for the school from 2012 to 2015.

2018-2023

Founded Sangeet Bitan Music School of Atlanta

In 2015, I started my musical career in Atlanta, teaching vocal music and piano in small groups. These classes eventually evolved into the Sangeet Bitan Music School of Atlanta. Since 2018, I have been offering group lessons, semi-private lessons, and private lessons on zoom and in person to my students. The students of Sangeet Bitan have performed at numerous events, including IACA, IFA, Festival of India, TAMA, Purbasha, various school multicultural international events, Indian Consulate and BAGA. As a result of our success, Sangeet Bitan has become a well-recognized and respected music school in America and continues to grow, with new students joining every month.
